Guide to Adhesive Selection
RELEASE UNDERLAY SYSTEMS
Some underlay systems, as specified by the
manufacturers, can be fixed to the subfloor with
STYCCOBOND F40.
STYCCOBOND F40 combines high shear with low
peel adhesion to reduce lateral movement of release
underlays under trafficking and thus minimise rucking,
while enabling the carpet and underlay to be replaced
when required.
Suitable carpets as specified by the manufacturers,
may be bonded to the release underlay using the
recommended permanent bond adhesive.
Not all carpets are suitable for use with
release underlays. Do not use rubber foam
backed carpets; PVC and polyurethane foam
backed carpets. Additionally, the adhesion
of the secondary backing with certain tufted
carpets is of significant importance.
WHEN MORE THAN ONE ADHESIVE
IS LISTED, SELECTION SHOULD
BE MADE BY CONSIDERING SUCH
FACTORS AS SITE CONDITIONS,
TYPE AND ABSORBENCY OF
THE SUBFLOOR, FLAMMABILITY
We suggest the advice of the carpet
manufacturer is sought to determine the
suitability of a carpet for installation on a
release underlay system before acclimatisation
of carpets.
Acoustic Underlays for Luxury Vinyl Tiles,
adhesive, underlay and tile manufacturer's
must be contacted to ensure compatibility.
