Guide to Adhesive Selection
RAG® 2026
INTRODUCTION
Information on other aspects of the selection and use of adhesives are given in our
Product Data Sheets, which can be viewed and printed directly from the F. Ball and
Co. Ltd. website: www.f-ball.com
Many manufacturers have detailed installation instructions for their floorcoverings
and should be consulted for their advice.
ADHESIVE SELECTION
DUAL BOND SYSTEMS
Flooring products are grouped by backing type. Some
product names appear with several backing types and
it is important to ensure that the backing is correct as
this may affect the choice of adhesive.
Certain carpets as specified in the RAG® can be
laid into wet STYCCOBOND F40 to produce a
permanent bond.
MULTIPLE LISTINGS
When more than one adhesive is listed, selection
should be made by considering such factors as site
conditions, type and absorbency of the subfloor,
flammability requirements etc. Information is given on
the individual adhesive Product Data Sheets and these
must be referred to in conjunction with this guide to
ensure that the correct selection is made.
VERTICAL BOND
Some floorcoverings are suitable for use on stairs,
steps and walls. Please consult the floorcovering
manufacturer or installation guides.
Some products are listed with water resistant
adhesives. This is to suit areas subject to surface water
and does not imply that the floorcovering is suitable
for use outdoors or where the subfloor is damp.
SPECIAL NOTE
The following special note relates to F41 in the RAG®.
*Where PVC backed carpet tiles are to be laid over fully
flexible vinyl flooring use STYCCOBOND F41 applied in
bands to the back of the tile, avoiding the edge.
